Saturday will mark 9 months since I was laid off. Haven't had more than a temp job or freelance gig here and there since. To say I have no hope is an understatement. Anybody else been unwanted that long?

It will be 4 months August 1st, that I got laid off. I had maybe 1 interview, but this was back in April i think. The temp agencies even say they're slow and don't have anything for me, I don't know. I'm starting to lose hope.

I have had only part-time contracts since May 2008. Even that is sparse now, with no income since the end of June.

Are any of you working part time or full time yet? Just curious.

Not me. I've gotten another boatload of rejections since I posted this, though. One of them was for a copyediting job. They misspelled my name in the rejection letter. That pretty well sums up my luck.

I have given up and am applying to retail. Right now I'm waiting to hear back from Target. I'm really glad I got a master's degree to make 8 bucks an hour, but my unemployment ran out and I am also running out of things to sell to raise cash.

Oh, yeah -- Oct. 1 was a full year of being out of work. It amuses me that the economists are saying the recession is over -- I think it's because they all have jobs!

I'm out of work too. Lost my job on May 1st.
Not much luck finding another job- I don't know what I'm going to do as my funds are getting lower and lower. I applied for unemployment but even that isn't coming through.

Well, it just hit the 7 month mark that I lost my job. I haven't had any luck. The phone isn't even ringing. I've followed up on some places that had contact information, but they give me the same runaround. Unemployment isn't nearly enough to pay anything. I'm very worried.

Hello,

I've been unemployed for four months and yes, it is hard to deal with. I've come to the conclusion rather than to hope for a new job soon (especially with the holiday season looming), I'd better prepare to weather the storm as carefully as I can. Every day I've got to work with my mind to stay positive about the future.

Well, I've just hit the 8th month mark of being unemployed. I'm in total shock that it's been this difficult to find something. I don't even want to think about it anymore. Now we're in December already, budgets will be reset, but who's hiring now i wonder?

Not me...I start tomorrow my fifth month of unemployment.
It is really discouraging how few job openings are available. I just try to keep the faith.

Been out of work for 6-8 months now. I was just contacted for a Census job though. They might have work in your area.

Here the number is 1-866-861-2010.

P.S. Do not call the number if you are afraid of scams. I just got it in an email today and haven't called it yet because it is too late, just FYI.
