In case none of the jobs I'm currently interviewing for work out, and in case I can't find other work, I need a plan B. So I've applied to go back to technical college for a post graduate diploma in Fraud Examination and Forensic Accounting.

I don't like the idea of living like a broke student again but seeing as how I'll be doing that anyway, if I don't get a job soon, I might as well be studying.

It's an intensive course - 8 months, and 7 courses / semester.

I haven't studied anything seriously since my accounting exams in 2003, and haven't done regular course work since my MBA in 99.
This all feels really scary.

might feel scary but sounds really smart. with your experience, they might not want you for new projects where they are looking for younger (cheaper) people who they feel are more proficient on new technology, but to be able to do forensics I would think requires experience - you have to know what you're looking at, how things should look. good on you.

Thanks Hankster,

And in what has to be one of the fastest turnarounds in history, I just got an e-mail yesterday, saying I'd been accepted.

So now I'm supposed to log into the computer system, and say that I'm acccepting the spot. I hope that the deposit required isn't too large, as ideally I'll find a job and won't have to go back to school.

This is also really scary as I have trouble picturing myself as a student again.

Hi splitimage! If you go back to school - you can do it! I'm not such a fan of school at this point anymore so I hope you find a job as well, but if not - I'm sure you'll be fantastic at an intensive program (that's what my college diploma was) Canada's economy kinda sucks right now, huh?!
