On July 23'rd the day before I left for my vacation I did a massive job application blitz and applied to 9 jobs. I had a call back today for a telephone interview on one of them. I was stupid and said I could talk then, rather than lying and saying I couldn't talk and could we talk in maybe an hour. Excitement got the better of me. Problem was I totally couldn't remember what the job was for or any details about the company, so when asked what appealed to me about the job, I was sort of stuck. I mean you can't just say "It's a job, I have the qualifications for it, and I've been unemployed for a year, so of course I'm interested." So I flubbed and said I was interested in it because it was a technical position and I was a very strong technical accountant. I only think I did so so on the interview. I definitely would have done better if i'd taken time to prepare. But I did manage to slip in some additional information about my qualifications that might give me an edge.
I really hope I get an inperson interview. But at least it makes me feel better about my resume. splitimage |
