Well I got a job interview for an accounting position Aug. 22. I have a good shot at getting the job assuming I don't blow the interview. It's a mid level technical position. It's only contract but it does have benefits and it would get me back into the job market. Fingers crossed.
Also I'm going to interview skills workshop next Wed. as I know I need help in that area. --splitimage |

Thanks Xeneon.
Well I had the interview and I think it went well. We had a good discusssion. I have a good shot at it, because they're only interviewing 3 people according to the recruiter. Their big concern over me was that I was too senior for the job, but I think I allayed their concerns over that, and did a good job of explaining why I wanted the job. The only thing that concerns me is they're skirting employment laws and revenue Canada. The company doesn't have any employees. All they have is independant contractors. So I'd have to register myself as a sole proprietorship, get an HST number, and invoice them. This makes the job higher risk, as if they decide they hate me in 6 months and fire me, I wouldn't be eligible to collect employment insurance. I think it'll come down to if they decide if they want to afford me. In some ways this would be a really good job for my recovery right now as it would be low stress, it offers great flex time, so I can continue in aftercare, and do my afterwork stuff downtown. Just need to get my head around the independent contractor idea. splitimage |
