Just so you know, in the US, congress has decided to end extended unemployment benefits on Jan 28th.

This really suuuuuuuuucks. I have no idea what I'm going to do. I've been out of work since Aug 2010, and rely on these benefits to make it week to week. I've applied to over 200 jobs, and have maybe had 10 interviews, but I'm either over qualified or under qualified.

I seriously don't know what to do....

I'm sorry to hear this. I feel for you, as I rely on my disability payments month to month. If the Canadian government stopped giving them...I don't know how I'd survive.

I hope you are able to find a job soon, or find another way to get by. I'm also wondering...why would they not hire you if you were over-qualified? Wouldn't they want someone who is more than qualified to do the job?

Moreta, it appears that it is the state you live in that decided on that date. For many others in the US, the extension runs well into the month of February. I am sorry to hear you are stuck in this mess.

Have you considered "dummying" down your resume? Sounds awful, doesn't it? But maybe that is the best way to gain employment these days. I wish you the best. Don't give up!
