Hi everyone
![]() So I wanted to ask:- Why are YOU doing what you're doing - what's the motivation behind your work? Some don't know, some are in it because they have to, some go after lots of money, fast cars etc. Me personally, I'm going into my career because I believe it will fulfill me and that I will be able to inspire many people and generally help them out. For me, my career objective is much more important than the actually career - how can I reach many people and actually provide value for them? What does everyone else think?? :P |

I certainly went into my career more for the idea of helping others than for the money, at least since I started teaching at small colleges that didn't pay much and never pushed too much to move up.
I think it's sad when people do go into a career for all the perks....That is, if they really don't like what they are doing, anyway. |

Today my boss talked hatefully to me, snarling and glaring at me and working herself up. She is filled with such anger and hatred it's a wonder she doesn't burst into flames. I didn't let it bother me, though because I don't give a rat's rear hindquarter about my job anymore, or about whether that poor devil spits her mind poison. This lousy job is just a mechanism to put food on the table. I used to care, but being treated like crud day after day just killed my enthusiasm. I am enthusiastic about the other career for which I am preparing, though.

I think it's great you chose to do something you believe in though, keep going! ![]() Quote:
I remember having a supervisor like that, and she would always mess me around and give me conflicting messages and instructions to confuse me, and she would NEVER directly help me when I really needed the help. At the time I was depressed and irritated every day I had to spend in the same office as her, but now that I've moved on and am moving towards my passion, the only thing I feel when I think back to those times is pity for her. I hope your new career turns out to be right for you - I'm almost 100% sure you won't regret it ![]() |
