I currently switched careers due to bullying. I worked ten years in one field and really did enjoyed it. I lefted it because of bullying. Every job I worked at in my previous career I was bullied just because someone at that job thought that job was not for me or if I didn't quit then they would make my job a living hell until I would quit. It got so bad I decided to change careers. The new career I have now is great and enjoy it everyday. However, just recently, I lost the chance to advance because those bullies from my past are still haunting me. I'm afraid to be aggressive or assertive or take the necessary chances that could benefit my new career. I'm not being bullied now in my new career but when my chances come to show my ability or skills or that I know what I'm doing, I back off and become timid. That is due to the bullying I received in my previous career. Whenever I was show off my skills or be assertive, I would get yelled at or disciplined for insubordination.
I need help. How can i get over that? I love my new career and I want to advice. One more thing, I got a month to get over. I got another chance to advance and that is a month away. I don't want to another year to advance especially since I'm getting up there in age. |

I'm so sorry for the past bullying. I can understand how it would affect how you feel about yourself. I'm not sure it's something you can totally get over in a month, but you might see a therapist and get some support as you work in your new career.
Plus, we are here to encourage you and to be here for you. Let us know how things are going! ![]() |
