Im confused as to what direction to take in my life. I feel there are 3 options for me. 2 of which are creative but i think i can only work from home separating me from real people. The other is some kind of work outside which i don't see myself doing because of my social phobia. But even online I feel social phobia too. But Im afraid if I dont get back into something I may harm myself.

It is very tricky to find online work from home because most of the offers are scam. There is little legitimate work from home.

That said... what is your skillset? Whether you are looking online or offline, you start with the skillset.

That is not true. I have worked on-line jobs from home for over ten years. Of course, some jobs are much easier to find than others. I recently wrote something on how to find jobs from home at http://forums.psychcentral.com/work-...based-job.html. There's loads of jobs, primarily in secretarial work, IT, customer service, and writing. At&T, 1-800-Flowers, and BuyOwner are only a few who hire at-home, online work. Lol...I am doing an on-line job as I'm typing this.

If you follow my instructions, primarily give no money for anything, you won't fall for the scams, and I'd be happy to help if I can. Good luck.

P.S. if you find my info useful, say something just to bump it up. I need to look through my resources for additional places to look...I've got a stack of 'em.

Thank you for correcting me. I have received tons of spam offers to sign up for various things ranging from online surveys to what not and did not know of the legitimate alternatives.

Most of the survey offers are spam. The biggest thing when trying to find a job is to NEVER pay for a job. They pay you. And keep in mind that you never meet your employer so harrassment and various problems you can have from online offers is greatly reduced if you go about it right.

There are some survey systems that actually do pay you. The catch is you have to do a lot of them and they usually come in the form of money to use on amazon.com etc. Also if you're honest with your answers about who you are, how old, etc. its sometimes hard to qualify for all of the surveys anyway. It's definitely not a way to earn an income though so I guess my point is moot. haha.

There is also Amazon Turk, which IS legitimate work online, but it pays pennies.

I would practice working online at the local library or something. Take your computer, they usually have a network you can connect to these days, or, use their computers or use your computer to write or do other non-internet work, etc. But that would help me with getting comfortable in public while letting me do my own thing.

There are jobs "out there" that don't have too much public interaction and there are jobs that are partly out there and partly online. Figure out what you would like to do and then work toward doing it. Limitations can be worked around or through, don't start with what you "can't" do, start with what you want to do.

flexjobs.com has legitimate work from home jobs reviewed by Forbes and the better business bureau. Rat Race Rebellion as well.

Hi
Just wanted to say hello and that I've been thinking the same thing as my social anxiety seems to have got worse. I sometimes wish I didn't have to work with other people and have to make small talk with people I have nothing in common with.

I hope you manage to find something that suits you. Have you thought about setting up an online shop?
Take care

I would recommend going to Clark Howard's website for legitimate work at home opportunities: Clark Howard: Save More, Spend Less and Avoid Rip-offs | www.clarkhoward.com If you're not familiar with Clark Howard, he's a financial guru of sorts, more on the practical side for sure. He has a syndicated talk show and appears on tv as well. Anyway, Howard has a work at home guide page on his website for legitimate work at home opportunities. Many of these ops are customer service care, sales, etc., but the point here is Howard is an advocate for helping people steer clear from scams. Now, if you have a social phobia, customer service or sales may not work for you, but there might be some other opportunities on his site that don't require as much interaction with people. You won't know if you don't check it out.
