I went to school a year ago for vet tech training i got a year in of training out of a two year program and i have been hoping to get my foot in the door at a clinic for a while now.

I got a very promising email from someone i contacted by craigslist but it turns out its too far away from me to do much about.

and its been the best lead I have seen on my kind of job market in a while. I wanted to put up the emails minus any personal info from me or the person looking to hire for the job and get opinions from others on if I handled this ok?

I would honestly love to take the position if I could and it rather disappointing that I can't take it. I did not realize how far out you guys where, I was on the columbia,MO craigslist when i looked up any veterinary technician jobs so I assumed that this position was within the state.

I do apologize for wasting any of your time in your job hunt. And would like to further say that if my money situation was different I would truly like to have the position and maybe it would be possible to speak with your facility in the future when I did have better means to relocate??

I wish you all the best of luck in your search for a new tech
at you facility

So I guess I don't really understand why you are applying if you can't relocate.

I wish I had the finical means to relocate to Iowa at this time but right now, I don't have enough money set back in my budget to make a move like that.
as far as my knowledge within the field the basic anatomy of cats and dogs is very familiar to me. Personally I know more about pocket pets and exotics, while I was in school I took a special interest equines. Even though I did not grow up on a farm, my family had me exposed to horses from an early age I learned basic bare back riding when I was the age of four.
As well as you can see from my resume i spent time volunteering at a local therapeutic riding school for disabled children in the Columbia community.
I know a lot about restraint and got fairly good with it while I was at school, although in my humble opinion I do think dogs are far more easy to restrain then cats.

I like both cats and dogs, but some how seem to click with dogs more so. My office skills cover privately owned data bases for private clinics, in which I helped my mother in small summer jobs. I am fairly knowledgeable in Microsoft Word since I have taken classes on it since I was in high school. I am also fairly knowledgeable in different operating systems such as Windows and Macs.

I do have some experience with photography as a hobby, but not really horribly well with it.

Thanks for applying for this position, would you be coming up for an interview and relocating if you got the job? I really need to fill this position asap, so the time frame is important but will certainly wait for the right person if that is you. Can you go into some detail about your Vet Tech skills? What do you know how to do and have you done any fieldwork at a Veterinary Clinic using your knowledge. Are you more of a dog or a cat person? Are you able to restrain and work with both easily? Also could you expand on your office and computer experience and give us an idea of what you can do. Any special skills like photography, graphic arts or?

I can understand why you would be disappointment. Keep looking, maybe in your local paper for positions. I'm sure you will find something. Are you planning on finishing you second year training? That might help you in you pursuit.
Good luck,
Gayle
