I have a job interview at a restaurant next week. I've been nervous about applying at food-related places because I self-harm, and I'm worried that because of health codes and all, I would be unsuitable for a job working around food. But because I'm desperate for a job, I have applied to some restaurants.

I looked up their dress code online and found out that I'd have to wear short sleeves. It doesn't say for certain that bracelets aren't allowed, but necklaces and rings aren't, so I've got a feeling bracelets aren't either, and that means that it would be impossible to hide my wrist.

So basically, my choices are 1)let them know at the interview that I self-harm and ask them if hiding it with bracelets would be okay, 2) tell them I have a tattoo I want to keep covered, or 3)cancel the interview now and just keep looking for a job. Not saying anything about this isn't an option, because my worst fear is getting hired and then getting in trouble and fired right away for breaking dress code or health rules. I'd rather not get hired in the first place.

At the moment I'm leaning towards the second, because I don't feel ready to let anyone know about my self-harming, and I'm really desperate for a job. But I'm really worried they'd call my bluff and ask to see the tattoo. Does anyone have any insight or other suggestions?

I would think a watch would be allowed. I can't imagine working without a watch.
Thanks for this!
