This is sufficiently out there that it just might work. A recruiter contacted me last night about a job, on the basis of my linked in profile. They need a sales specialist to provide technical sales support for a finncial reporting software. The money is amazing. The only downside is it's high travel and I'm not sure how I feel about that.
But last night I redid my resume to update it, and fired it off. I'm going to review the company info and talk with the recruiter again on Fri. splitimage |

I think high travel would be a deal-breaker for me.
But I might feel differently if I were unemployed.

Sounds wonderful!! Just a warning...if they ask for any money at all, reject it. It's a scam. Best of luck to you!!

Thanks everyone,
Things are progressing. I've had 3 interviews with the recruiter, and he sent my resume and a write-up on me down to the hiring manager, last week. He expected to hear back by Mon. of this week. When I hadn't heard from him by end of day Mon., I sent him a friendly "Just checking in" e-mail. Much to my shock he called me, and suggested I contact the hiring manager directly! Recruiter's in my experience never ever do this. So I got the hiring manager's linkedin profile and sent him a message saying, I'd been working with the recruiter, my resume had been sent down, I liked the company because, I'd be good for the job because, and I'd like to talk in person. Much to my shock he answered me, saying he'd forwarded my message onto his technical lead and expected to hear back from him by next week, and that he'd look at his schedule to see when he could find time to talk, but that he was busy with Q4 stuff. This is so unlike any of my previous experiences dealing with recruiter led job hunts, that I have to take it as a good sign. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I am excited. splitimage |

Good luck! I just got a job offer this morning which started out as someone contacting me on LinkedIn. I plan to accept tomorrow. The job itself sounds like a drag (the same thing I currently do but a differe company, but I have high hopes for a better work environment.
