My boss emailed me and told me I did the timesheet wrong.
I told her I'd be in Monday (today), but I just got an email saying that she had to turn in the time sheets already, implying that I caused a major inconvenience because I didn't bother to pay attention to the time sheet. I'm afraid to go into work today. I'm such a stupid f***-up, and I know my boss thinks the worst of me. She thinks I'm blowing off my job because I'm busy with the practicum. I keep trying to do everything right, but then I do something stupid and mess it all up. What is wrong with me, that I continue being a stupid f***-up? How can I force myself to do my job right? |

winterglen, Sounds like you are under a lot of stress and that's why these mistakes are happening. When you are at work try to focus on one task at a time. Double check that it has been done correctly. Try to pace yourself and not rush.

Your post implies that you feel you have to be perfect at everything otherwise you beat yourself up. You would feel better if you realize that all humans including you make mistakes and you are no less worthy as a human when you do make mistakes. You can PREFER to make few mistakes but if you tell yourself that you must never make a mistake, you're setting yourself up for negative emotions.

You are not a stupid f*** up! I make mistakes too and sometimes feel like beating myself up about it. But, I try to remember that everybody does and to think of the things I do well too. It makes me feel sad to see you so hard on yourself. You care about your job - that is obvious from how hard you are being on yourself. You could always just apologise to your boss for the mistake - but, don't be too apologetic!! It sounds like a mistake anyone could make.

Your trying to hard to be perfect when you aren't and you never will be. That's causing you to be extremely hard on yourself. Just be yourself. Your going to mess up many more times in the future and you can't continually beat yourself up on the small things you do. If your boss thinks the worst of you ( I'm sure she doesn't) oh we'll. there are going to be people who don't like you but what they think doesn't matter. It all comes down to what YOU think about you, and if you keep thinking that you are f*** up then that's what is really going to effect you and others not what those other people think.
