Hi Everyone. Im a van driver, considering getting a CDL A license and hitting the road driving 18 wheelers. I have undiagnosed ADHD. All I take now is Gingko Biloba and Ginseng supplements. 1 of each pills daily. My question: Are there any CDL A truck drivers here on psychcentral who could share your experience of drving with controlled/uncontrolled (unmedicated) ADHD?

Hi Eagleskydiver

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

Perhaps your concerns about ADHD are best looked at by a mental health professional in order for a diagnosis, if any, and then you can have meds tailored to suit your needs.

I say this merely because one has a responsibility as a truck driver not only for their own safety and wellbeing but for the safety of other road users too. You wouldn't want to land up in a situation where something happens, which could have been avoided, had you received the appropriate treatment.

Take care of yourself.
Thanks for this!

Undiagnosed ADHD? Are you saying you've never had a doctor diagnose you, so you only think you have ADHD? Please refrain from diagnosing yourself. Talk to a doctor, but also be aware many doctors over-diagnose these days, I could literally go in there saying I have anything and they would agree with me, depending on the doctor.
Anyway...just be careful with that.
