I graduated with a degree in computer science but I only did it because I was pressured to. I hate the field and want to get out. I graduated just to get the degree but I have no skills to show for it. The company I'm working for isn't doing well and I'm pretty sure I'll be laid off soon. It's also a huge factor in my depression. I've been looking around for jobs but most of them require some sort of experience or degree, or is probably not enough for me to survive on my own.

I considered going back to school for a different degree but I'm not sure if it's worth all the time, money and sacrifice for something that I have no interest in and is very triggering for me (so is working but I need to pay the bills and all).

I have no friends or family, seems like I have no future either. I'm feeling really hopeless right now.

What do you want to do instead? What is it about CS that you don't like?

I bet you can find a job you like that doesn't require going back to school. You have a really valuable degree. You could take that anywhere in the world and work for any kind of company.

Hey, I know the feeling. I feel stuck in an industry that doesn't fit me- I have the most experience there- and it's sorta like being 'type casted' but in terms of careers (for the lack of a better term). I've also considered going back to school- though I do have a degree that I can work with- I just need to not give up hope and keep looking in my field (semi related to the field I have experience in). In your situation though I think going back to school will help- study something that you can see you're self doing something with- it may take time- but hopefully you can get a small job part time somewhere and in a few years you'll be able to have a degree that'll be worth much more to you out there in the working world.
