hi all

I had 2 internet businesses going well, but got banned from working in the field that relates to these businesses (for reasons I dont agree with), and this has effectively destroyed the businesses and any chance of me continuing to work in the field I was trained in and good at doing.
This all happened about 12 months ago, I while I managed to salvage something from the wreck and sell the businesses, but have yet to find work, and its putting a big strain on my family and finances.
I feel very angry and annoyed that i received such a harsh ban, for what was a fairly minor indiscretion (others in the industry are shocked I got a life ban), and am trying to apply for jobs but deep down inside miss running my own business which I worked so hard to build up only to have it ripped away from me....
I have a house with some equity in it and in order to keep this I will need to work in a job I probably dont particularly want to do, and its just all very bloody frustrating....
Im starting to think about selling the house, but I have to consider my wife and young 2.5 year old child. I really feel this is an unfair situation.
I could also try and appeal the decision but this will cost money in legal fees and there is no guarantee it will change anything anyway...
I really dont know what to do....any suggestions please....???
Hugs from:

Can you get a free consult with a lawyer to find out the odds of lifting the ban? It's really hard to give advice without knowing the details, like who issued the ban and why.

Cheers hvert. Yes maybe thats worth a try - but the damage has kind of already been done given I've lost the businesses. That said it would be good to try appeal coz at least then I'd know I've done everything in my power to overturn it. The other option is up and move to another country - which is not out of the question. I think the main problem I have is I am finding it extremely depressing that after having set up and run a couple of businesses then having them effectively ripped away from me I now face the stark reality of going back to work full time in some menial job I dont really want to do....

I would see if I could figure out something alongside your field of expertise without operating in it. Write or mentor, discuss traps or see if you can get contracts helping teach disadvantaged/prisoners skills that could be used to get into your field? Find a lawyer and work together with them on the legalities and the bann and write about that? Help other people not get tripped up by what happened to you? Expand to other fields that have similar organizational structures and do the same sort of thing -- write or work out a business that is something more holistic so they cannot say you are in your field.
