I've hired and fired for 40 years. Bottom line ... Be honest during the interview. I eventually figured out the liars. Most Gouda employers do. Biggest "lie"..... Availability. Once hired, it's "Ooops I forgot to mention bowling", etc. I fired them. Never ever be afraid to tell the truth, because it WILL come back to haunt you.

After the fact is when employers find out. A few years ago we did a group interview training exercise where everyone had to try and figure out which one of us was lying. I told them all that I had a tattooed love heart on my bottom, I was so convincing that the whole group thought I had told the truth! So, it's not easy to see who is lying at the interview stage unfortunately. The best advice I can give is to be yourself.

I was honest at mine. Scared to death they wouldn't hire me b/c I plan to eventually end up somewhere else and told them so. I do feel for those who bend the truth a bit though. Seems like the only way to get work over the summer nowadays.
