I'm 36 years young, have aspergers and ADD, and I need help funding someone to implement my goals and ideas. It is hard to explain, but this about me compensating for the ADD symptom known as Executive Function Disorder, or EFD. People with ADD like me benefit from having a body double to anchor us, but this is more involved, and what I like to call interfacing.

I have a lot of goals, and projects, that I want to do, but have found myself unequal in either the confidence, or ability, or both, and am trying to find a way despite my liabilities. The the key to overcoming EFD difficulties, it seems, is a technique called "scaffolding," in which the individual is provided support and structure within the area he is trying to learn, until he can function on his own, but the problem is, what I'm to do is how to learn a whole lot of interrelating tasks in concert without being overwhelmed like someone with aspergers is wont to become.

A lot of talented, underachieving people could use some interfacing, dare I say. They want to do certain things, but are struggling with how to actually perform them within the nitty-gritty of real life.
Basically, I'm trying to pioneer a solution that will help not just me, but others. Some may say that what I'm calling for is really another name for an ADD coach, but to that, I can only say, "I wish." I've contacted over three-hundred of them, and they have a little document dubbed HIPAA they have to sign which prevents them from doing any speaking, or advocating, on the client's behalf. Push to shove, a coach is a cheerleader, not a scaffold.

We're talking scaffolding for phone calls, making plans, and revising them, on the fly, and then doing so all over again. I want to learn this, but at the same time, I want to do so without becoming claustrophobic. As a result, I am calling for an interface, or a more comprehensive form of scaffold, to help me both learn and manage my career goals effectively.

To do this, I already have an organization lined up that can help me do this, namely the Exceptional Foresters of Shelton, Washington. I have already worked closely and well with one of their case workers, Paul, and he is ready to help me as his interface. Moreover, his bosses support him.

Trouble is, their asking price is to much for me to pay. I estimate I'll need at a minimum ten hours of interfacing a week to be effective, and their fee is $35 an hour. They need to be paid, and I myself cannot.

Which is where the aspergers and greater disability community comes in. I need help, and am looking for some agency that can foot the bill, allowing me to live a higher quality of life. Yes, I am in need of help, but trust that if I get the help, I will be able to one day afford the necessary help on my own.

In short, it's a life investment.

Sorry you are having this trouble swinging things. You might contact NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness | NAMI: The National Alliance on Mental Illness and find the local agencies that might be able to help, some possibly free.
