Someone at work always seems to use some sort of air freshener or something, and instantly after I walk into the area, no matter how much was used, I start coughing and hacking, I've asked them to stop, I've done this more than once, and they still do it. Today I threw up, I don't know if it's the cold plus the allergy symptoms I normally get with this, or just that things have gotten worse. I really really would like to not feel sick every time I work with this person. What do I do?

Wow! I come to you as a spray offender! I'm not sure what field you work in, but mine is pretty smelly! I work in a nursing home.....BM metropolis. I started using a cherry blossom spray to cut the different "brands" off from meeting. Everyone thanked me but 1 girl who hated it. I was cool about it and sprayed it only places she didn't frequent and in lower amounts. Everyone was happy again.
Unfortunately, a floor wide bout of diarrhea forced me to get scent therapy on break, in the form of actual air freshener. Very expensive, allergen free lint scented air freshener. Best smelling shift ever! Absolutely ridiculous that I should have to provide this instead of the cheap *** facility anyway. Advice=remain friendly even if the other person isn't receptive(they probably won't be)if not go to your supervisor. My issue resolved somewhat easily which isn't common. Good luck on yours. |
