There's this workmate I'm cautious about. One time she invited me round her place for a drink. Only I learnt today, she was hoping to make me laugh since I didn't laugh before. Well, sorry to say but she doesn't make me laugh. I can't even laugh if it's not funny to me. While, I was at hers, she was like, "oh, let's invite bla bla round, she seems lonely. I get the impression that she's only want to be there since she may feel sorry for me or think I'm lonely. I just want a friend.

You won't be able to read her mind, so don't drive yourself crazy trying.

My advice is to just proceed cautiously and with strong boundaries.

Don't share anything that could be used against you at work or anything you don't want the whole workplace knowing about.

If you enjoy the social interaction, there's no harming in enjoying, but just keep it light and casual.

If it develops into a friendship, then cool. But if it turns out that she had bad intentions, you'll be safe because you didn't share anything too personal or do anything that you were uncomfortable with.
Thanks for this!

Miss Invisible, if your gut feeling tells you something then listen to it and head the advice it is giving you. Find another friend. tc
