Hi,

I started a new job about three months ago, I came from an awful one before with a huge turnover and a toxic environment. This place is the opposite, everyone is so respectful, nice and helpful... I'm terrified that if they get to know me better they will stop respecting me. Logically I know this is not the case, all my clients have only said praises about my work but I did seem to pass through hostile personalities in my early years of work and it seemed to stick with me, this inherent sense of insecurity.

How do I deal and just relax?

I know if it's not this job there will be another but I do not want to fail, I want to be respected, want to be needed and relied upon. Sigh
Hugs from:

Hello Smiles007: Congratulations on the new job! I don't know if I have any particular suggestions for you here. From my perspective, I would simply say to try be yourself first of all. And beyond that make a conscious effort not to react with your new coworkers in the ways you might have reacted to coworkers in previous jobs. Sometimes, if you can simply allow some space between something someone says or does, & how you respond, this will help to create an opportunity to respond in new more constructive ways.
