If you apply for more than one job and you would like job A the most but job B says they'll hire you before you hear about job A, is it ok to tell job B that you need to give them a week or so before you accept the job because you're waiting for another company to get back to you?
I applied for too many jobs at once and I'm trying to find the best one, assuming they'll hire me, and I don't know how this works. |

Absolutely. Ask to let you think about it for a couple days.
I wanted job B but job A contacted me first, I told them to give me a couple days, then heard back from job B who hired me, then I called job A and told them I had taken a position elsewhere. |

Sure, but don't be surprised if they need to fill the position and find someone else. It works both ways...

Sorry chiming in a bit late here, that's perfectly fine. Only thing I would suggest is not saying you are waiting on another job but that you needed time to review and make a decision.

The one job I was offered, I decided to turn down. It could spike up to 32 hours a week and I'm just looking for a part time job. I wouldn't be able to do it with taking care of my kids, and I'm too easily frazzled...I think it would be too much stress. So I'm kind of bummed but I guess I'll just see what my other interview brings and hopefully it will be good.
