I wanted to ask for help finding some work that I can do from home. I live in a rural area and haven't been able to find a job since I moved here. I don't have friends around here to help grease the wheels and relatives don't seem to be interested in helping. I'm introverted and not very comfortable around people in the first place. Not having money makes me feel even worse about myself.
I've been doing crowdsourced jobs that pay nickels and dimes but the work ebbs and flows and I haven't figured out how to game the system to make a decent amount. I haven't been able to save any money in years and I really need something more steady. I know it won't be perfect but something part time. Then maybe I can fix my car so I can get around and maybe even pay for therapy if I can find some in this place. Please help. |

Since you are in a rural area, find out what companies are in your region and contact them. When I was unemployed, I emailed several small companies in my area and one emailed me back and I got a job with them. It wasn't working from home, but it was a short distance from my home. |

Clark Howard (a consumer advocate with a radio show, I'm not sure how well known he is outside of my local area, but he's a really great, thrifty guy) - has a page on his website with legitimate work from home opportunities.
Maybe you can find something here that will work for you? Work From Home guide | Clark Howard Good luck! |

Thank you. I wanted to get on a freelance site but there where qualification tests that seemed intimidating. I don't know what I'm good at after all these years. I wanted to do web development, but my schooling was interrupted by this move, and I haven't been successful at getting in touch with people that would take someone that knows a little bit on.
And there's not tech classes to take where I am. A lot of not knowing if I'm good enough factors into that too. Other than that I've done fairly generic office work, customer service and tech support. Last edited by FooZe; Mar 29, 2017 at 01:22 AM.. Reason: removed quote |

I've had a subscription to flexjobs and it was worth the money, but most of the jobs are for people who already have some sort of specific qualifications or degree. If you don't fall into that category it might not be worth your time.
www.realwaystoearnmoneyonline.com sends out a newsletter every so often with work at home job leads, and they have a lot of the same things that I found on flexjobs, plus more. The site also splits jobs into categories, such as phone and non-phone jobs, to help you narrow the search as far as what you want to do. Also, if you're looking into transcription, you can start at https://workshop.castingwords.com with no entrance test. How it works is you get paid very little while you learn the ropes, and then if you're good at it, you work your way up to a better pay grade. I've done it and made decent money for part time flexible work. At first I thought it was a scam because the pay was so low, but I kept with it and worked my way up. There's not enough work for it to be a full time job. I also wouldn't suggest getting too far into it without getting a foot pedal and the accompanying software. I have stopped doing transcribing for now because the company was pretty picky about what they would accept and I ended up wasting a lot of time trying to find files that weren't crappy audio so I wouldn't have to stop halfway through. Medical coding is a good job to do from home and you can either go to college or take a non-college online course to learn how to do it. All the jobs I've seen for medical coders are 40 hour a week jobs. Wishing you good luck. |

I've found the best thing is to get out and tell people you're looking for a job! That saying, it's not what you know but who you know has a lot of merit. Do you know anyone in the town? Or you could visit the Chamber of Commerce and drop off your resume? That'd get the ball rolling. Or, checkout Craigslist for jobs? Good luck! Put one foot in front of the other, have faith, and something will come!

Its easy to see if a bizop or job offer is legit and not a scam I strongly recommend scamadvisor.com Its accurate, honest objective Or if you like do a google search for reviews of such opportunities. Good luck to you.
