Hello everyone,
I am new to this board. I'm on SSDI but I would like to work, maybe just a few hours each week or something. I understand there is a dollar limit for how much you can earn each month, and you have to report your hours and earnings each month. My question is--does the SSA care *what* type of work you are doing? Even if you're under the earnings limit? Are they suddenly going to say, "well, you can do x, you no longer fit the guidelines for being disabled by your mental illness"? I know about the Ticket-to-Work program but I am not quite ready for that yet. Thank you for any help! |

I am not sure what the rules are, but a friend of mine worked at a convenience store one day a week. Another friend has worked at stores and restaurants.

Basically, you can do any job and just not earn over the set limit to continue to get SSDI. If you earn over the set limit for a certain period of time, then you run the risk of losing SSDI.
