long story short been at the same job for the last 15 years. i should know my job inside out but the last year or so i have been making more errors than i normally should.. i know last year the reason why, so this year i decided it would be a fresh start.

2 weeks ago, my work was audited it came back error free, today the team leader audited my work and emailed me back 4 errors, one was very minor and won't really count, but the other 3 were either i rushed through them, or i wasn't paying attention.

my manager keeps emphazing you need to pay more attention to detail, i get that... i don't maybe i am anxious subconsioulsy and that is causing me to make mistakes i normally should not be making.

i have to be so honest i am so bored of this job, grateful to have a job, but doing the same thing over and over again is becoming very monontatous. she said how can i recommend you for other positions in the company if you are making errors right now my confidence is at all time low. i guess i really need to slow down, double check everything and take my time even if it slows down my productivity which she complains about periodically too, it seems i cant win with her either way. ((sigh))

Being bored of your job and not being able to enjoy it may be affecting your focus at work but that does not reflect on your actual ability to do your job. You have done it for 15 years and you've done it well for a very long time. We all lose focus. We all get bored. It's okay. Take some time for yourself and as you reflect and relax you'll find your confidence. If you remember you had it once, know it's just buried under the anxiety...It's not lost.

A few exercises I have done to help myself are:

Listing 10 strengths and keeping it as a Self esteem inventory..It took me days to finish so don't give up making this list...I still only have 8 listed so make sure you don't give up trying to find all the strengths you have.

Listen to Affirmation podcasts

Write a letter to my future/past self

thanks woe-be .... i was asked to write 50 things i like about myself, i managed to come up with 23. and yes you are right i think i need to sit back and relax myself, to be honest with you i do my best work when my manager is around, even though she is not watching right over me, i always fee like she is talking behind my back, or ready to pounce on me again for something i have done wrong, and believe me they are minor errors, i do data entry work so you can imagine how tedious that can get.

yes i do listen to affirmations on the podcast, i know with affirmations though, you have to repeat them out loud consistently till it gets ingrained in your mindset.

Yes, it's all a habit to cultivate...Including accepting and coping with our anxiety and low self esteem. Keep doing what you are doing to help yourself. You are taking the right steps Keep at it and they will pay off. I have learnt that patience is a key virtue that anxiety teaches us. It's one I am still working on... But this forum makes it easier
