I am doing some brainstorming right now looking at where I can transfer my new skills to another employer. 60 days left it'll be a year with my current job. I'm not making any moves right now only brainstorming until I'm ready to make a move.
I do tech support and billing for an IT startup company in a call center. The company has been around for 5 yes now and still growing. With these skills I have troubleshooting financial and supervisory skills. The supervisor part I do not manage employees it was like having more access to tools that regular agents didn't have access too plus I've done 8 sup calls on my own without my sup getting involved. I make my own decisions for customers on refunds and exchanges for devices plus giving them free **** within company policy. I do a lot more work in my current position than level one agents. I was selected to be part of the billing team it was not a promotion just a collateral move 4 the same pay. I've applied within had one interview never got the position plus other positions that I wasn't considered for and my stats are great. I'm seeing more things within this company that I cannot agree nor support. I have been thinking lately that I feel more comfortable in a role where I can self manage my work and work on a team. I do not feel confident to manage people as my assertive communication is still weak. I don't want to do phone work anymore. I'd like to double my salary even though I have an associates degree. I'm not sure what industries would be ideal for these transferable skills. I could do technical sales but I don't do commission. I have my resume updated but not out there broadcasted. I still get offers here and there on my old resume. I worked at a community college for 2 yes part time temp didn't go anywhere very hard to get a job within the company I'd rather go back there very laid back unlike my current job. I'd love to be in a position to negotiate I enjoy doing that with my customers. Any ideas/suggestions on where/what industries I can transfer these skills too? |

To be honest I have no knowledge of what fields might work for you but what comes to mind is to consult a recruiting company. They're always more than happy to have skilled employees like yourself on their roster and it's actually their job to find a good fit between employee skill sets and different jobs/industries.
Hope this helps. Wish you luck on finding a new and fulfilling field! ![]() |

Yea looks like I might have too the problem is recruiters refer me to positions where I don't have the experience at all I'd be grateful if their clients accepted me and trained me

My updated resume is getting some attention got a recruiter who I know the staffing company very well as they called me a lot for 2 years and provided me with nothing to offer. My resume is now attracting sales/billing and still attracts help desk positions. We'll see

Hope that something good comes up soon! If it doesn't, maybe you could take a couple of courses to expand your skills, so you start attracting different work with your resume. |

Taking some classes right now wouldn't be ideal i already have enough stress. i am just concern about transitioning to another position once an opportunity is available and money is tight. i got a couple more position offers on friday pay less than what i am making and can't afford that. i found a help desk position i like that it is m-f 7a-4p the problem is it is phone work which i don't want to do anymore had enough doing heavy phone work.

Exactly I want to go to email team waiting to hear back. Other people are moving up I feel like I'm being cheated considering a start up company would be easier to move up in
