So we've been trying to set up this meeting with a disability advocate to discuss reasonable accommodations, but I can't get an advocate in the area to come.
So I suggested we have the meeting just the HR person and my supervisor, not the CEO. I also outlined some of my symptoms and suggestions for accommodating. Totally standard. The HR rep comes in and gives me a formal letter in response to my email, and I'm freaking out, but all it was was a request for some medical information from my doctor, which I totally expected them to ask for, it was just a formal request for that information. But lord if I didn't have a heart attack when she handed me a sealed envelope. Geez...but it's a simple enough request. I just need to write a letter for my doctor to sign that explains all the answers to their questions, which are all within the ADA. There is one thing that I'm not sure is legal, but I think I can answer it without violating my privacy. I think it may just be worded strangely. I hope this goes okay. I really just want to institute parameters so that I am held accountable but also have the flexibility I need to do self care when necessary. Like if I need to leave a meeting to splash water on my face and take a xanax...it's not a huge request, but I want it in writing. And the accommodation to work from home when necessary: almost everyone already works from home when they need to or want to anyways. I had remote access installed on my computer the day I started at this company. We ALL work from home frequently, but again, I just want it in writing that it's an agreed upon accommodation and who I'm supposed to notify and what the expectation when I work from is. This is really to protect us both - so that they don't get an employee who is taking advantage, and so I can continue to work successfully at the organization. Anyways, just had to share that heart attack moment. Seesaw

Let us know how it goes. That would have freaked me out, too.
