So you all know a couple of weeks ago I got fired.

I've been working on my fine art business through Etsy since then. I've also been applying for many jobs, as per unemployment requires me.

Well, things are looking up. I have had a few phone interviews that are moving into the live phase now. And they are all great positions that actually pay more than my last job.

One is for an Executive Director position of a ballet company, but it's a really small company. Another is for a position at a university, which would be great because that's good job security. The other would require me to move and is also at a ballet company, but it's a well-established regional company that has a great track record.

Anyways, all three good opportunities. Plus some good freelance opportunities.

So, yes, things are looking up. But still, it pisses me off every time I think of that stupid VP who fired me and the things she said.

That sounds promising, sees!
How do you explain your current unemployment to potential employers? Just wondering what the best approach is in these kind of situations.

Well technically my position was eliminated. I tell them two things: one, that my position was eliminated, and 2, that I have been looking to move onto something else for awhile and with the reorganization, now seemed like a good time.

That is great. A couple of years back I got my first job out of school. The guy lied about everything. And within the first two weeks.. he set me up to be yelled at in front of a client. He thought I would stick it out but I quit. I remember being so so upset. I had no money, it would look so bad to quit like that. He even stiffed me. Within 4 weeks I got a call from my "dream job". The one I had really wanted but the didn't have funding for me. They now had funding. Had I been working in the other job, I might have turned it down.

But I wasn't working and was available. I LOVED the job. It was great.

Sometimes... everything happens for a reason.
