I have started a new job only a few weeks ago. It's a job I had experience in but not a lot of experience. I made that clear in my interview. My new boss seemed mostly impressed that the little I knew was mainly self taught. I was offered the job on the spot. I've had almost no training. Literally about 2 weeks of 30 min trainings if we were lucky. Then I was given my own office and expected to jump in. I took the challenge and just tried my best, using what I already knew, trying to learn quickly and using all the resources I could. But I've made several mistakes. In fact there are a few I've made multiple times. I feel like an idiot. My boss even made it clear that if he has to go behind me all the time he doesn't need me. I'm not lazy in fact I've been going in early and leaving very late trying to go over all of my work multiple times before turning it in for review. On the other hand my boss has also told me that it will all get better after I get more acclimated and he just handed me $50 for staying late and helping him finish some work the other night. So basically I'm completely stressed and on edge always nervous about making another mistake. It was so bad the other day that I almost cried which is very out of character for me. I want to do well at this job. Another thing is I haven't gotten paid. It's only a day late however I text my boss about it and he hasn't responded at all. This could be a totally unrelated mistake. I'm just really worried.....any advice?

Just remain calm . It can be easy to blow things out of all proportion in your mind when you stress and begin panicking . It's a tumultuous time in a new job , things that take an age to do now you will fly through in a few more short months . Your trying hard . You care , that's a good thing . Focus that energy only on what you can control . It will be enough if you get that right .
P.s. Nothing wrong with enquiring where your pay is . It's why your going there after all . |
