Congratulations!

This is where we definitely excel. I used to think living with ASD was a curse, until I found work that I enjoy and excel at. Now I see it as an advantage.

Hi all, this is the first time I write in this kind of check-in.
I'm actually still doing a sort of apprenticeship. I work with children who have problems with school...I help someone at school during some hours, someone at home instead. The problem is, being in these 'strange' environments scares me quite a lot, especially at school where there are many people...it's not like if the children came to the place where I have apprenticeship in theory. And especially I'm scared about interacting with teachers and other more self-confident and experienced people I have to work with. For example, with the teachers I'm always afraid to bother them and make them lose time if I have questions. And during pauses it's difficult to feel comfortable, sometimes I look for a quiet place to 'hide' , though it's difficult to find one.
And in general I'm afraid about making mistakes and maybe someone finding out and getting mad.
I'm not good at interacting with adults :/
(P.S. my disorders are anxiety and OCD. It's especially anxiety that gives me troubles).

Also my first time posting on this thread.

My procrastination has reached an all time high. Small tasks seem so overwhelming. Looking at the possibility of a residential treatment program.

You can access the chat rooms by going to the bottom of the screen in the forums and looking for the little white arrow pointing left. Click on that. Or, in the menu bar for the forums, click on the "Chat" drop down and enter chat through there.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

I don’t want to mention my disorder. I just feel like it’s getting more and more noticeable. I’m pretty sure anyone who is familiar with autism has figured me out. But who knows who those people are. I just feel like my disorder is really noticeable. It doesn’t necessarily bother me, I just feel like it’s more noticeable then before.

Try not to think about what other people think...I know it's difficult...but the important thing is the disorder doesn't bother you too much.

I recently released just how much introverts are not valued. This was quite painful.

My coworker who I’ve had trouble with before was muttering under her breath about weird people. I heard her say “yeah I’ll get in trouble if I say that.”

Having autism on top of traits of selective mutism is getting more difficult for me.

It was my own fault though. I was scheduled opposite hours of her but I decided to deal with her since It was easier to leave town for my trip at noon instead of 5.

I wouldn't say it's your 'fault', I think you have been very brave to choose the best thing for yourself instead of letting anxiety choose. It's her problem if she decides to act so immature. But if she really bullies you, maybe you can talk about it to a supervisor?

She actually put in her two weeks notice last week. Friday was the last time I saw her. That’s what I meant by it being my fault. If I had just worked my original shift I wouldn’t have had to deal with her one last time.

I'm happy you don't have to deal with her again. However, I really think you have been great not to let anxiety choose

Today is kind of btchy. It's supposed to be a national holiday, but for no reason our CEO insisted us to work. Also, he refuses to pay with overtime rate. We're paid with normal working days rate. We had showed them about the goverment policy regarding this problem, but he acted like, "doesn't matter. We'll pay the fines."

They tried to encourage us with just a slice of pizza for everyone. For retaliating, we did passive aggressive moves by slowing down our work and slacking off most the times.

I have a wedding to go to next week. I’m not usually scheduled on The Weekends and I’m taking time off a few weeks from now, so I didn’t take the day off. I looked at the schedule when it came out, and I happened to be scheduled on the day of the wedding. Yesterday I asked my manager if I could work a different shift that day since I wouldn’t have a ride until the middle of the afternoon. My manager said to me “don’t you want to go to this wedding?” She then switched me to a different day. I’m really impressed with work right now.

I started my new job this past Monday. Missed a day of work today because of my anxiety.

Bad day at work, but more of anger rather than anxiety. I had 'breakout' and messed up due to work stress, sudden work changes from boss, and a coworker (sort of) humiliated me.

At least I got a nice laugh from another coworker and I finished my work on time.

Manager took me into the office after I clocked out. He wanted to ask me about next weeks schedule. First he wanted to confirm that I was asking to work this Friday instead of my original Saturday hours. I confirmed and he said “that’s fine.” And put it in the schedule. He then immediately asked if I could switch a shift next week with another coworker. I said sure since it really doesn’t matter. Maybe I’m misinterpreting it wrong, but the way he said it immediately after switching this weekend, made me think that they had the mindset of “yes we can accommodate you, but we need something in return.” I don’t know though. I am a very accommodating person in general. I usually can switch hours and days with no problems. Maybe they chose me because they thought I’m flexible and reliable? Maybe I should be feeling good? I’m just confused since it happened in the same meeting that discussed switching my hours.

And maybe that is something that should happen? If they help me shouldn’t I help them in return? Maybe I’m just sounding like a brat?

I don’t know. Does anyone know anything abour similar stuff like this? Or have any suggestions or comments?

I don't know about the "need something in return" part. Maybe he'd been wondering whom he'd find to switch that other shift with, and then you happened along -- so he asked. Is there anything about that other shift that makes it an obviously worse (or better) deal than the one that you'd be trading for it?
