My life is filled with a lot of failures and very little work experience. It has been bothering me a lot lately, especially since I just turned 40. I returned to school last fall and will be transferring to another one in southern Ontario. This will require a move to another city, so I need to rise funds. I have to find employment by the end of April. I'm not sure how to find work and get over all the fears I have. My biggest issues are being around a lot of people, applying for jobs and interviews.
I'm not qualified to do anything except customer service, which I don't really have the personality for. The only things I can do is repair mechanical clocks and (conventional) machining. What are good jobs for an introvert with ASD who doesn't like being around a lot of people?

A great job for people who don't like too much stimulation is a stocker, whether it be in a grocery store or a large department store. All you have to do is scan items, and put them where they belong. It's usually solo work, and is extremely easy.
In the same area, you could also apply to be an aisle maintenance person (I do both stocking and aisle maintaining). Aisle maintenance is where you check that the prices are right, making price signs, and a bit of light cleaning. I like my job because it's rather quiet, too much noise stresses me out. ![]() |
