I lifted something at work on Monday. Tuesday I started having pain and left early. I went to the doctors and I got a CT scan done. I have muscular pain from the table I lifted at work. My mom told me to tell them today I hurt myself from the table. I didn’t want to. They didn’t freak out but they had to call someone and I had to talk to them. Now I have a claim number and stuff. I tried working but the pain was bad so I asked them if I could have a couple days off. I asked if I could just have a couple days off without all this workers comp. I was worried I was in trouble. They said I wasn’t in trouble but they reminded me about safety. My manager said the table should Have been on a flat bed. That was the manager who I was lifting the table with responsibility. I don’t want them paying my bills or anything. I don’t want to get the company in trouble. I just want a couple days off. My mom says they are just trying to cover their own ***. I am going back to the doctor tomorrow and getting a note so I can go back to work on Friday.

Should I have told them about the table? I don’t want to get fired. I didn’t feel anything until the next day. I felt fine immediately after. That’s how my pain is. I don’t feel it until the next day. It defiently was the table though.

You are fine. It really is simply policy. Workers comp is for your protection and theirs. If the injury were to end up being more than muscle strain, and you needed significant time off, you would be covered. I believe it also keeps them from getting sued for monetary compensation after the fact.

You're not in trouble, and by law, you can't get fired for getting injured at work. It may be annoying to them, but it's the same level as someone calling in 15 minutes before their shift starts. It's just that they are gonna be short a person, that's all.

It's not the end of the world the them, I promise. Stuff happens, and it sounds like they don't want you to get hurt any more than you already are, which is good.
