And I am getting discoraged. Numerous interviews and rejections. Finding an office like job that works with disability is hard. I know what I want to do but need to learn a computer program to even get an interview it seems. Yardi to be a leasing consultant. It's a part time job that would use my degree. I'll figure out the details next week. After my vacation, I need a break from it all.

I know how you feel. I was out of a job for 7 years until I came here. I have no good advice and am sorry. I think the best bet is to go to the employment office/ unemployment office? near you and see if you can get advice. Also, since you have a doctor for your condition, they must know of resources for people similar to you who are in a similar situation. Finally, if you are in Chicago, then try Thresholds in Chicago Home | Thresholds. If not, then find a mental health clubhouse near you. I say this because they usually have resources for people with mental illnesses who want to find jobs. https://clubhouse-intl.org/what-we-d...nal-directory/ They should help you with your resume and how to interview etc.
If none of these work, then you must do jobs you can get and go with them. I'm sure you are not picky but initially if you really need a job, just do what you can find and when possible, change to the job that you desire later. Job hunting is hard. I'm still doing it. I think no matter where you are, job hunting and trying to explain your periods of no work is the most difficult situation to overcome. So, don't give up and persevere! I've been there and can tell you it is an uphill battle which you need to prepare for with much determination and a fighting spirit. Also, they say that volunteering first might help open doors for you too. So, please consider all of your options. |
