I'm aware it's my decision, but I tend to do things I regret.

I'm trying to determine whether to keep my job or not. I'm a college sophomore living in dorms. This this my first job; I got it back in February. I like the coworkers(well some), but the job itself is overwhelming and dreadful. I feel super embarrassed to say that because I'm not even working that much and there are students who work more than me who are doing fine.

I'm not sure why I'm especially bad this year. My grades are dropping, I'm neglecting my health, and I'm turning to food again (overeating), which is stressful since I'm trying to lose weight. My very first therapy appointment is on Monday.

I'm thinking of just leaving the job, then getting a new job after a couple months of therapy? I also feel bad for resigning because it seems like everyone is doing the same thing and they're understaffed. :/

I definitely will, it's just been on my mind for a while and I wanted to vent about it. And I guess you're right. I think I would have done it by now if I wasn't so afraid of disappointing people. :/

I would be careful about simply quitting. How will this look to prospective employers? What sense do you have that a new job will be different? Won't your life include a lot of jobs that seem unmanageable but can be navigated with a better set of time management/self-care/communication skills? Will you feel better if you go to supervisors and clear the air by saying that you're noticing other people leaving and you feel there are structural issues that are causing lots of people to leave.

I may be misreading this situation from a distance, and you do need to throw in the towel, but I think there is little to be gained from cutting and running when you could actually salvage something from this job.

Does quitting serve your very best self? If it does, then blow out of there. If you feel there is something to be gained, really gained, by either trying to make this job better or simply persisting to see if the horizons brighten, then you have your answer.

You will know in your heart whether there is something to be gained by staying.
