I had a dream of working a job involving birds, but my mental health and physical limitations due to muscle weakness destroyed everything years ago. I am so narrowly specialized on my resume with birds, with almost no experience beyond working at universities and non-profits with birds that other jobs won't consider me. And bird related jobs, most of them require physical strength that I lack, the ones I had in the past I was luck I could do! Plus I have meltdowns and in general emotional problems so bad that I don't know if I can work. I get SSI and my husband just got approved for his but it's not a good life at all. I'm getting tired of being in poverty to the point where today I was scraping together change just to buy my husband a tea at the store. I can't stand it anymore!

Can you become a bird volunteer at a local wildlife rehabilitation center for birds in your city? At least that way, you can still work with birds as a volunteer even if it's not exactly what you used to do.

I hear you about poverty. It's a real drag.

I forget the number, but the average person changes carrers X times in their lifetime.
Seems to me, the the days of forty years, and a gold Rolex are all but gone.
Humans adapt. That is what we do.
Relax, breathe.
It'll be okay.
I know exactly how you feel.

Very true. I've had to reinvent myself several times over my working life. Maybe you need to start exploring new career options. Do you have access to any type of career counseling? That may be a place to start.

I got a job offer today but they need someone to start work next week and it's in another state! Not sure who to turn to, no money means there is no way I can get to it!

Nevermind, they couldn't hire me after all anyway. But I had a serious meltdown over it. Not cool.
