I had some time off from work a few weeks ago and only had one headache that I believe was triggered by an extremely hot day. Now, being back at work, I'm getting headaches frequently again. I get them after the end of the work day and typically on Sunday night before returning to work on Monday.
These frequent headaches started in April when my work responsibilities changed. The stress of the new responsibilities must be the cause, but I am not sure what to do. I feel I want to quit my job just to stop the headaches and the stress. |

![]() I had a job change a year ago. Experienced an onslaught of anxiety attacks more often than I ever recall having them. I also had enormous stressors outside of the newer, faster paced, higher stakes position. But the pay for what I do during the contract period isn't something to write off so easily not with the added responsibility as breadwinner for my offspring. I found myself back into therapy not because of this job specifically and not specifically as a go to answer to stress but it's been nice to bounce a few things off my T. During the non contract weeks I disconnected from various stimulous, removing phone notifications of every kind for instance. I'm now onto round 2/year 2 in this role. I'm not waking up with anxiety like I was. Is it still a stressful place of employment? Yes. Very much so. Had I peeked around at what's out there? For a little while, yes. Wouldn't be worth my while. I didn't need to update my resume since it was updated in applying for this internal transfer before the competition for this job bowed out. Little steps while holding the current position would be my advice. Enough rambling from me. I'd get those headaches checked out, to be perfectly honest. ![]() |

I had a physical in February before the frequent headaches started and was healthy. I guess I have convinced myself these are tension headaches from stress and a physician wouldn't help much. I also stopped therapy in February because I felt my T wasn't helping me anymore and she dropped my insurance. Honestly, I can't decide if I need to go to the doctor, go to a new therapist, go directly to a specialist (like a neurologist) or just try to manage the stress better.
I agree quitting my current job would be a bandaid. In my clearer moments, I know I would want to line up another job before leaving. I also realize there are huge benefits to staying with this job if I can manage the stress. Thanks, healingme4me. I will seriously consider seeing a doctor. Maybe that is the place to start. |
