I feel uneasy and nervous about an internship interview I had recently. I found the internship posting in my school's job board (I got to community college and I am 21). At first, I could not find where to apply online. I emailed the person that left their contact info to ask where. An hour later, I ended googling the position and found it. I later had emailed the other person to say "nevermind, I found it." Then they emailed me later saying to tell them when I'm done with the application to transfer my application over to the interviewer. I felt like a made a good initial impression by taking initiative and showing interest. Then I heard back a week and a half later to arrange the interview. The interview took place on 1/22. I think the interview was not brilliant but it went relatively well. In my responses, I referenced my past experiences and mention what I can bring in. I think had the right and adequate answers to the questions. I also asked 3 questions to them. The next morning I emailed my thank you email to the interviewer.

Other positive details are that I was the first one to apply and interview. I also noticed that the position was posted on Linkedin and noticed that no one had applied for it. I don't how many people saw the job posting on my school's job board or the company's career website but those are details that would go well for my favor. Late last week, I noticed that the company took down the internship postings from Linkedin and their career website. Upon making that observation, I felt nervous about how this is going to end up for me. I was told that I would hear back in a week or two. The first week past and this is the second week. I want to feel confident about getting the position but I can't because things rarely go my way. I know hard work counts a lot but I have horrendous luck. I believe I did everything I could to land the internship position but as time goes on I am afraid that all those efforts will just go in vain.

You created some of your own luck by making a good impression and asking them questions during the interview. It shows them you are interested and have initiative. The 'luck' you have no control over will just happen.

Sometimes the interview and selection process takes a long time at companies. I was involved in hiring in my previous job and just getting decisionmakers together to select a candidate took time with busy schedules. It might take the full 2 weeks.

I hope you get it!

Big high five for doing such an exceptionally good interview, and for being realistically confident. You worked for that and will take your confidence in yourself forward!

WELL DONE AND GOOD LUCK.

UPDATE:
It has been a month since the interview happened and it's safe to say that I did not get it. They completely ghosted me and never heard back even though they told me that they would tell me within 2 weeks of the interview. I did everything I could and in a professional manner but I somehow did not get that opportunity. I reached out to them by email after the 2 weeks to ask what happened but their just ghosting me. Looking for work is basically like trying to find a date nowadays. There is initial talks between 2 people but when the time comes to declare interest or not, the other person decides to become a ghost. This job/internship hunt is making me feel worthless as each day goes on and destroying my mental health.
