Greetings,
Recently I have been hospitalized for psychiatric problems which made me take 7 days off of work. I have been working at this company for over 1 year now. I have a letter from the doctor saying I'm fit to return to work without limitations. The district manager and my manager wants to meet with me. They did this before and I remember answering questions that I didn't think were appropriate. I wasn't sure how to respond. Hope you can give me some insight! Sounds like a boundary issue?
You can say if you feel the questions are not appropriate - this time you will won't be taken by surprise. You can honestly ask them right at the beginning, or even better in writing before the meeting, what is the purpose of the meeting? Finding out their purpose would help me to take this out of the realm of intimacy, and into the realm of "what is their problem?" It's a fair question, and you could say that you are asking it from a perspective of understanding the priorities of the business and how you can help to advance those. Use it to learn more about them, change the focus. In the end they are trying to manage their team, not to probe the depths of you psyche. I know it's tough to do this while feeling vulnerable! Would help if you could take along a supporter. __________________ *"Fierce <-> Reality"* oh god I am struggling today, help me to remember how to stay connected and human! remember: the nut shell against human predators and my own fear! |

if they met with you before ..was that meeting after a health issue? or something else?
if your dr notes states you can work without limitations then that is it. the absence should be covered I imagine.. do you have a union? take a rep if you have a friend in the company take them with you if you feel comfortable and they allow it. they might just want to know if you are physically able to perform your job without limitations and if not what restrictions might be needed and your dr note said no limitations so just say that...but then you need to stick to that. |
