Obviously, there are a lot of reasons to complain about work. But, I thought it would be nice to also have a space to share positive work news.
Mine is that after about 2 months of unemployment, I was offered a freelance writing assignment last week. It went well, and they want me to do a second project. It's for a US company and pays in dollars, so the pay is much better than at my former toxic workplace. Initially I will work about 20 hours a week, if they like the second project. |

This is great. I think it's a great idea to focus on positive things in the work place too.

Great idea for a thread @rechu. Today my general manager took some steps to get some resources that we needed. I'm less stressed now.

Congratulations on the writing gig! This week I signed up to teach two workshops. It's unpaid but gives me practice and is a good way to network.

Bad news is I have pneumonia but the nice thing is everyone I work with is chipping in to help me out and help me meet some deadlines while I'm sick.

I enjoy my job. it's part time but that is what I want. it's retail, and I enjoy the people contact. have enough responsibilities to keep me busy but not enough to make me crazy. company is very community & charity orientated which is also a bonus. obviously there are bumps in the road, but that is true of every workplace. been there over 1 yr, very content. income pads out my disability nicely.
I had the opportunity to arrange my schedule so I only work weekends which permits me to do therapy dog work, etc during the week without having to miss work. I have no issue missing "weekend fun" as I have always worked them..actually prefer too. my time off during the week always me to enjoy time during the week when things are empty. |

Also I’ve been at my job for 2 years but I’ve been working steady for years. At this current job I get sick pay, vacation time, and personal time. I also work retail.

I love my job. It’s stressful and tiring but I love it. I’ve been 14 years in this particular location. But overall I’ve been working full time my entire life and I am getting tired generally speaking, but with minor exception somewhere in between I always loved my job. So I guess it’s positive.

We had a busy month last month and typically this kind of business is always taken for granted, but my manager nominated me for a cash award and I elected time off.

I got recognition today from my supervisor that there is a part of my job I do really well at that most people don't bother doing at all. It's nice not being taken for granted.

Good news: I will land a new job, soon...
So this company has agreed to hire me. I will sign the contract next Friday. I hope it will go well. I hope there's nothing bad in the contract. |

My biggest client (who has offered me full time jobs numerous times but we've settled down now to a good partnership) and I have officially been partnering together for 2 years!
Holy ****! I've been making this consulting business work for 2 years! That's incredible. I'm really proud of myself. __________________ What if I fall? Oh, my dear, but what if you fly? I've signed the contract. Thankfully there's nothing bad in the contract. I'm officially resigned to my current workplace.

I took Friday off--to deal with my mental health, emotional health, physical health, and take my cat to the vet. I expected to come back to mountains of paperwork but actually it wasn't bad. My inbox is clear already.

Luckily next week I get more hours. Last week was 3 “hours” and this week was one scheduled day and one extra day. Next week is 3 days. I get the weekend off too.
My birthday is the week after next and it doesn’t bother me if I’m scheduled that day. I have therapy and an appointment with my primary that day too. Grown adults who make huge deals out of their birthdays look foolish in my opinion. __________________ I'm Blue |

I got paid for the first trial writing project I did. Since the company is in the US and I am abroad, the easiest thing was for them to send a check to my sister who deposited it. I am waiting for feedback on the second project I did.
