I am interested in knowing how many hours others actually work from their typical 8-hour working day, including meetings or any work related activities. I work on average 6.5 hours, but I feel management keeps pushing for more, which I am not sure is feasible for me.

I am salaried, my time isn’t really measured that way. I can’t really determine exact number of hours as my work is always there, no matter if I am actually at work or not, my work never leaves my mind.
If I am not at work, I might still work at home doing paperwork. I also talk to parents/students during off time, which is still work or have meetings etc. I’d say I typically work around 10 hours a day. But then I have summers off (although I do teach summer school). PS I also have a very long commute, which adds two hours to my day. |

7-1/2 hours and every second of my day is measured by what I am doing and how much I am producing during that time. I work 8-1/2 hours, minus 2 15-minute breaks and a 1/2 hour lunch.

I own/run a consulting firm and a nonprofit. I work about 55-60 hours a week between the two of them.

I work part time currently. Looking at going into full time. But commission based full time. Currently work 17 hours a week and therapy for 7 to 8 hours a week. I feel recovered and like i have an abundance of time. But 40 hours means no time. God is guiding me.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I realize that it's different for different people, but for me I am working on the PC mouse mainly all day long, and after 5-6 hours of work my wrist starts to hurt and my fingers go numb, and I cannot do much after that. The thing is that management doesn't even know or care about this, and recently they implemented a tracking software on our computers to know how many hours we are working on the computer, AND to report what we are doing in the remaining time from the 8 hours. My supervisor even told me that I need to compensate anytime I take for the rest room visits and fixing a cup of coffee and stretching for few minutes every hour or so. These activities take small time on their own, but at the end of the day they accumulate to maybe 30 minutes, and they need us to make up this time!! I don't mind working extra 30-45 minutes, but as I said my wrist and fingers go numb and my productivity plummets after 5-6 hours of constant work, and resting doesn't help either! After I finish work I cannot use the mouse for the rest of the day. I feel better only the next morning for the cycle to start again
