I for once appreciate politeness and the polite small gestures at work, like saying "please" and "thank you", especially from my superiors. I feel respected when I am talked to with these words/phrases, and go the extra mile in response in doing what I am supposed/have to do, and they create a positive atmosphere and make the work culture positive. I also exert effort to do the same when I talk to my colleagues and superiors and try to not be affected by their responses if they don't do the same. I try to be consistent, although not easy sometimes when you feel not being acknowledged as a human (like when your supervisor walks on you in the kitchen and doesn't acknowledge you at all, like you don't exist!!). It's not required by any means, as this is a work place, but I think we are humans first before being employees, and these small gestures can go a long way.
Thanks for this!

Absolutely. People need to show basic human decency including politeness at all times whenever possible. Of course no one is perfect

I try to show basic politeness in life in general. Agree 100% that it is important at work. It helps create a positive work environment.

Yes! Actually this is something that is good about my workplace, there is a culture of manners. I really appreciate that. Management thank us at the end of each shift.

It is. I think it may be company policy but all the same it really makes me feel valued and contributes to positive workplace relationships.
