Because I wasn't able to land a decent job in my field of study for the last 5 years, I decided 1-1.5 years ago to change my career path, and started to learn technologies that are on demand in the industry, and I have built applications using them, and put them in my resume, but I still get many rejections/no answers. I am trying not to be discouraged by this, because in the past I almost gave up applying to jobs because of the countless rejection letters I received, but still rejections hurt, affect me and fade my hope and momentum to continue learning and applying.

On the other hand, I received a couple of phone interviews in the last 3-4 weeks, out of my 50-60 applications. I don't know if this is a normal rate (I believe it's still very low), but it's definitely better than before.

I think the assumption is that you don't have practical experience, then you must not be good, or you would need training, ... etc, although I am self-taught, independent and resourceful as I showed in my portfolio and projects. But still the majority of recruiters/employers don't believe I am capable of doing the job!!

It's very difficult during this time (COVID and holidays) to get interviews, let alone offers of employment. Things will loosen up after the first of the year hopefully.

I am sorry for you. Job searching is tough, especially with this pandemic. And yes, it is normal to get only a couple interviews out of dozens you sent. Rejections are hard, but sometimes I see them as 'dodging a bullet', because later I heard the workplaces are toxic, bad, and one company even turned out to be a fraud. Well, I hope you land a job soon. Yes it is hard, it takes times, but don't give up.
