So I've written on here in the past about my recent job where two supervisors tried to undermine my success. I was laid off from that job last July.

Then, I took a much higher paying job in Feb. Since then, my former CEO approached me about returning to my old job. I learned that both supervisors had been fired since I left. So he's offered me a job again, and I've accepted. He offered me more money than I had before.

At the time when all this was happening with those two supervisors, I complained to HR a few times. Issues were documented, and HR was on the alert.

Well, look what happened - they both got fired, and the CEO invited me back.

So, going to HR doesn't always prove to be a wrong move. Perhaps typically it is not the right move, but in my case and in another job, going to HR has proven to be highly beneficial. At least for me.

I'm glad to hear that for you. That must make you feel very good for yourself. It seems like there had been many times in the past that complaining to "higher ups" didn't help me one bit. It never hurts to try. But I tend to save any kind of complaining until it's something that I think is very serious. Some people complain a lot; even about the most trivial things, and that's not good.

Same here. I only went to HR for supervisors bullying me, undermining me, and lying to higher ups about my successes: all very serious issues.

My boss has done those things to me . Bur she already got ahead of things and talked to HR about me. After that she got permission to bully me and she does it even more.

Oh my goodness, that is horrible! Have you documented every incident? Do you have any of the bullying in writing? You can still make a case....

She has put lots of it in e-mails. One time I took 9 minutes to eat something and she found out because she is constantly walking by my desk to check on me. I e-mailed back that I would leave work a bit past my scheduled time of 5 pm and she sent an e-mail saying I have exceeded the amount of time allowed to take a lunch break. And that I not authorized to work after 5pm. Then she wrote that' if this behavior continues, you have been warned that disciplinary measures may be taken.'

She has sent this all up the chain to HR like I said. They gave her permission to treat me like that. Now I'm taking a half day a week to talk to a psychologist and she was talking about making me get proof about my medical appointments.

Oh dear Lord..... that is horrendous and appalling!!!!! I am livid and disgusted on your behalf!!!

Can you look for another job??? Can you transfer to another boss? Can you transfer to another role?

I could apply for a custodian job. Kind of a step down from being a chemist though - and it's a 45 minute commute. Other jobs don't turn up often - especially not good ones. To transfer to another boss would take permission from the exec who has not shown any sympathy towards me. She just told me I had to adjust to the supervisory style. I can document what is going on and go higher up in HR I guess. There is an HR boss over the HR manager my boss went to.

I would document everything, with dates and details, and bring it to the HR boss over the HR manager (if it were me). You deserve to be heard and you deserve to be treated with respect!

I wish you luck, AceRimmer, she sounds like a real piece of work to me. I think going higher up might be worth a shot, at least.
