I've done it before. I don't know if it does any good. I got a satisfactory evaluation, but it had lies in it. It said I took unauthorized breaks, but the breaks were authorized.

I never did but I would if there was a lie in there. I recommend you go for it. Id not sign a lie.

I’m not 100 % sure but threats of termination either outright or veiled to compel an employee to sign and an evaluation they disagree with is a labor violation.

Signing it only acknowledges that I have received it. There is a section for me to write comments if I disagree with something. It seems pointless though. Back last fall my boss and the program chief told me I could take 15 minute breaks to eat food that was delivered at 11 am. Then in February they called me into a meeting and told me that I had been taking unauthorized breaks for months. Now it's on my evaluation. It's a lie but I can't prove it because I never got the permission to take the breaks in writing.

Ace, I don't know if rebutting an evaluation does any good or not but I did it once. At least I felt better for standing up for myself.

I handed it in with a rebuttal. My boss's boss didn't look too happy later. Her name was not on it but a lot of it has to do with her as well as my boss so I sent it to her and asked for her signature to be on it along with my boss, my boss's boss's boss and my boss's boss's boss's boss. Yes - I have that many people up the chain from me. I feel a bit better. My chest pain is not nearly as bad. But maybe it's because I have a 4 day weekend.
