The review was all negatives and criticisms, with little mention of any positives, successful projects completed, or work well done.

I had to take a medical leave when I first started, then had to return to a greatly modified position according to my doctor's note.

It is my belief that they are now creating the documentation needed in order to fire me, and I said as much in my review meeting today with my boss and HR.

Due to my "modified" position, I am doing menial work for a very high salary. And I am sure that they resent that. I have asked for more responsibility, however, and more than once.

I pushed back on several points in this review meeting, letting it be known that a project I had done all on my own had been completed to my supervisor's satisfaction. He had even told me I had done as well of a job on it as he could have done. But that was omitted from my review entirely. It was stated that I require "heavy oversight" and only one example was cited where I had to repeat work done, whereas all other good work was ignored.

The review was biased and skewed. And, now I am thinking IF I AM fired, that I should sue them for wrongful termination. And I would.

I am FUMING over the injustice - FUMING. This is the worst review I've ever received in my entire life! And I work very hard at what I do, and for the most part, I do a great job.

HELP.

I am so sorry that happened to you. How awful!

A lawsuit might be the best course of action if you are terminated.

t is possible to lodge a complain with the US EEOC. That can be frustrating though since if there is a jury trial, you would have to prove unfairness to all twelve jurors whereas your employer, as the defendant would only have to induce reasonable doubt in one juror. Sadly I found this out through sad personal experience.

I hope you will not lose your job but if you do that you will get the just compensation that you deserve for the unfairness of the situation you outlined.

It sucks.

I think even the most negative review have to have suggestions on how to improve. I think if they do plan on firing, they would have to show that you aren’t improving according to the plan they suggested. So they better suggest improvement plan, don't just criticize .

Of course they can also say you are laid off due to elimination of position or cutting funds. Then you can’t sue

I don’t know about law suit but I know people who win but many also lose. We have someone who was suing for wrongful termination for a long time and she lost. It could go both ways. It also might be pricey

I don’t know what you should do but I know what I would do. I’d look for other jobs and just leave asap. It would be too stressful for me. In my line of work unless someone is fired for a horrible offense, people are given an opportunity to resign or they’ll be fired. Everyone always resigns. It’s not fun but it’s better than being fired, I think. They better give some options

In the meanwhile I’d ask them for suggestions how to improve and play their game. It would buy you time to find a new job

My manager did provide guidance on where to improve, so there's that at least.

But still, it smells like discrimination to me based on illness and having to step down a few steps to a lower level for a while. I would expect them to want to help me through it so that I can perform the job I was hired to do. I did not feel supported in this review; I felt attacked, which automatically puts me in a defensive position.

It certainly wasn't fair.

I haven't applied much lately because it's so exhausting to go through interviews. I am still waiting to hear back from a company, too.

I’m still sooo upset over this. How am I supposed to have a strong employee morale after that??? How am I supposed to rebound from such a negative review and feel good at work??? How am I supposed to even work now at all??? How can I show up at work and continue to try my best ??? I feel SO deflated by this. He punctured my bubble.

I stood up for myself in a note to HR after my formal review, but now I feel a huge conflict exists between me and my boss. And there is one now. I don’t like him or appreciate his extreme criticisms. He was waayyy too harsh with me, especially after returning from medical leave. I feel victimized.

I am really not happy. How do I get past this so I can continue to do my best??
