You know... I knew it would be the case.

In March they worked out a plan for telework. Basically the policy was.. if you didn't need to be in you didn't have to be.

But I got a call last night from my manager... there is a new employee... and because SHE isn't trained... I need to be in to cover for her.

Oh and the person who is supposed to do that.... is "unavailable" with no reason why.

So I have to go in and cover on a busy day... because of other people.

Getting very tried of this.

And for 20 years they have paid for transit expenses... but now... we get an annoucement they will need to do it on a case by case basis.

So if I am called into work and pay for transit... I have to hope they will reimburse me.

I hope it's just temporary for training this new employee. Maybe you can discuss with them, since it's on case-by-case, ahead of time for when you have to come into the office, and ask and get some clarification if they will pay.

I actually got out of the training due to illness but i knew it was going to be like this. One of my co workers says we will all be ordered back at some point. Interestingly, I think he is wrong because the "industry" has sent out survey's to its users and the VAST majority wish to keep remote proceedings going.

I saw some shrink or somebody say people need to return to the office for the camaraderie. I think climate change is going to become a deciding factor. Remember how clean the water and air became at the beginning of covid, when everyone stpped commuting and travelling?

I actually like being at the office, but I hate the commute. And mine is 30 minutes. I know some people have to commute over an hour each way. That's a lot of time. And gets expensive too.

Mine is well over an hour. I have said it before but when I go into the office now, I get nothing done. So many people want to talk to me when I am in.. it it useless.

They ended up getting someone from another district to cover. She lives 50 miles away but commutes on a highway. Takes her 60 minutes and she gets parking and milage paid for because she is from another district.

My commute is 26 miles away... and it takes 90 minutes one way on a train.

I commute an hour one way, longer in traffic. It takes so much out of my life but there’s no way I can permanently work from home due to the nature of my job. When we worked from home briefly I liked not to drive but I felt I had no life as my work and home life were so blurred.

But many in my family work from home all week and they love it

I think the best combination would be a hybrid schedule. Two days in the office two days at home or something alternating. My daughter and son in law work like that and they love it.
