Spoiler: A vent...
For the past 9 mos I have been interviewing and accepting office jobs only to find I could not stay - I couldn't get myself to go back after a week. I kept telling myself I wasn't getting hired for interesting work therefor the lack of motivation. Rewind the past 15 yrs I have been a Massage Therapist. I decided to leave in Covid and go back to the business world. My resume is not strong but I had calls once I put a current retail store operations job on. I do not believe I am cut out for office environments anymore. I have to trust this now. I have an office at home and am now starting to apply for remote jobs. I am just learning about all this. Competitive I believe because of Covid now. Writing is making me feel less charged about it and better. Thanks for listening. :~) |

What type of remote work are you looking for? I've been successfully working remotely for many years, even pre-Covid. Feel free to message me if you want to discuss the topic.

Remote work can be great but can also not be great depending on your mood. Great for anxiety, not so great for depression. You can always go out for a little drive to get out of the "funk" after staying home all day.

I've been working remotely for over 4 years, in different companies as my skills grow, I'll say this, I have become more lazy but more productive, because I'm looking for a shortcut to get to the result faster than necessary, be sure to try, I believe you will succeed, best wishes!

Remote work definitely works better for certain personality types and jobs. I sort of fell into it years ago because that was the job I was able to find after moving countries. Now, I dislike having to go into an office.
Most weeks I am able to compress my work into three days and take it easy on Thursday and Friday because I bill about 25-30 hours weekly. My client prefers it that way. Most of the projects I do need to go to the client the same week. So, when I wrap things up early, the editors and others that need to work on the document have more time. My client has agreed not to contact me on Thursdays and Fridays unless it's something urgent. Unfortunately, I am working today because of something that came up, but that's rare. |
