I took a break from this site. I don’t know where to post this. Hopefully it’s OK to post this info here.

I got a p/t to where I’ll probably be working 16-18 hours a week as a sales associate at a major retail store near me.

The pay is minimum wage in my area which sucks. Especially since I have lots of previous experience. I’m tired of looking though & I need the money bad, so I accepted this offer.

Hopefully they’ll hire me as a permanent employee after the holidays.

Older people tend to work at this store, so that’s good for me.

I can also wear jeans & sneakers that work too. Of course I’ll try to dress up more at first.

It’ll be nice to not have to rely on my financially controlling husband as much anymore!

Congratulations! No shame is taking a job you need and you never know where it will lead. Do your best, shine, build confidence and independence, learn everything they're willing to teach you, and keep an eye out for further opportunities. You'll do great.

Thanks. See my post on ‘Coping with Emotions’. I’m not used to things yet. Some people are nice but some people there are rude. Thsnkfully I won’t be working on Black Friday! I got 18 hours this werk too & later day shifts so I can sleep in!!! Yes!

Thanks. I’m not sure if I’ll stay there or not. I’m going to try to look for a better job that’s hopefully less stressful.

I have just finished the book "The Fast Food Nation". It is a book from over 20 years ago and based on the data then, In-N-Out Burger paid the highest wages in the fast food industry. I cannot compare because I do not go to any fast food except for In-N-Out burgers, but I am impressed when I see the wages posted on the doors of In-N-Outs and the workers inside seem content and cared for. Have you considered In-n-Out?

This is great news. A new opportunity with this holiday job. It could lead to a permanent job there. It could also show prospective employers that you're currently employed which makes you more appealing as a prospective job candidate too. So, a win all around. Congrats!

The OP has already resigned from this job @Motts, but I hope she will look for more.

I quit tgat job. They literally didn’t want to train me. I kept getting passed around. One kady literally said she couldn’t train me as she was to busy. I couldn’t even watch her work.

I was transferred to the floor which was less stressful. I was yelled at by one supervisor too over breaks. He talked down to me & accused me of not notifying the managers of my breaks. No one told me anything.

I thought it was OK to tell the lady that I was working with as she is one of the supervisors there.

He complained about me taking bathroom breaks too which was ridiculous

I did report him to MY supervisor. I got a hostile attitude from 3 wimen thete for no reason. They gave me a bizarre up & down nasty look.

Then one lady made a rude comment about how the plus sized section is known as the big momma section by her. I told her that was inappropriate then she apologized to me. I gelt that maybe she was fat shaming me as I’m plus sized.

Then they didn’t reissue a check until I called H.R twice.

It’s not worth the stress. My hours were cut from 16-18 a week to 12 too.

I tried, but that environment was way to hostile for me.
