I’m back. I just posted a long thread on the Depression board.
Anyways, I’m looking for work again. If I can’t get a job soon, then I’ll give up & apply for disability like I should’ve done years ago. Anyways, I did get a gre job interview but no one called me back. I think I got hired yesterday but now I think the guywho hired me changed his mind. I wrote about it in the Depression thread. Anyways, one guy flaked on a zoom interview. He didn’t even bother to contact me. I emailed him & he said that he forgot & that he was moving. I still didn’t hear back from him to reschedule the interview. The other guy was really weird. It was for an office assistant job at a metal shop. I talked to the iwner on the phone. He started complaining about his previous employers stealing & being on drugs. He then talked about god & that he’s a good looking guy. He then told me to text him so I did. He didn’t text me his address right away. He said, hold on to your horses with a laughing emoji as it’s only Monday & I was going to see him on Friday. Weird! So inappropriate too! He then texted me hus pic & the address & said something about tacos, lol 😆 I was desperate for a job & although he was weird, he seened harmless. He was to much though so I blocked him. The old guy who I think hired me needs someone to help him with typing & housework, I asked him if I’m hired & he said yes. This morning he wasn’t sure what his schedule or my schedule will be like yes & that he’d call me layer today or tomorrow. Did he change his mind or not? Is this his way of telling me that he changed his mind indirectly? Another place showed zero interest in me. This guy didn’t ask me any questions. I know that my emails are a bit long, sorry, I had to vent. Why would an employer play stupid games & act so inappropriate with job seekers? It’s rude & unprofessional. |

Hi Jesyka, it’s hard to know what was going on but it does sound strange and unprofessional, I think this can be a risk with smaller businesses and personal assistant jobs. Although I’m sure not all are like this I’ve certainly had strange experiences too with those kind of personal set ups. At least bigger companies have some kind of framework for hiring and I’ve found that’s better in many ways.
Good luck going forward, and hope you won’t let this dishearten you. |

Hi, yeah, some of these employers are rude. Hopefully someone will hire me soon who’ll treat me with respect. My husband is tightening the proverbial noose around my neck even more now.
He threatened to not give me anymore money & that he’d have to go to the store with me to buy food like I’m a child, ugh! He only gave me $100 this week & a limit to what I can but with his card. He’ll probably complain about each expense no matter what. I have no credit on my low limit cards too. I hope that this change isn’t permanent. I can’t live like this, I’m getting desperate, ugh. Maybe I should’ve given that weird guy a chance as they were willing to train me. He probably would’ve hired me if he ended up liking me in person. I wrote you back yesterday btw. Sorry for the slow response. I’ve been more depressed, stressed out & I needed to take a break too for my owm mental health. I didn’t nean to ignore you or anyone else. |

I've read that the job hunting situation is quite tough out there. Supposedly, businesses are short of employees, but some still ghost applicants or make them go through 4-5 interviews for an entry level position. I guess you just have to keep applying if the situation you mentioned doesn't work out. Good luck! I know it's not easy.

My friend told me not to call him back as I’d look to desperate & to get any employment offer in writing too. I don’t understand why some people tell other people obvious lies. I’d rather not have them say they’ll call me back and not get my hopes up. Last edited by jesyka; May 01, 2024 at 12:45 PM.. |

These people don’t sound like reliable employers at all. Where do you find these strange men? They don’t sound safe. I never had potential employers sending me their pictures or emojis. Weird people.
I’d look for a job in a reputable places only. It sounds that you didn’t check with disability vocational services, I shared the info with you in the past. They’d help you with suitable jobs. As long as you are married to your husband your disability payment would be a joke because he is employed. I don’t think it’s even worth bothering applying for disability as long as you stay married |

I wish I could work, but the last job I had forced me to leave my practice but the work was so interesting it was worth it. It is a National Lab, since I am ill, when I could still go onto the campus, I had a 1 hour time limitation because of a governmental exposure rules. At this lab both DOE and DOD contractors work, and I was the DOD contractor's section chief. Well in an hour you are lucky to park and get down to the lab you are visiting. So, when I would go in, I'd stay all day, the guy we liaise with that manages the grounds got mad at me and told me I should not be doing that. My response was, why, is it going to kill me? He didn't know how to respond to that. I just can't go in anymore, I tire out too easily, and one should not be making important decisions in that state. Never thought I would see a time when I thought I would say, how much I miss work.

I may not need to get on disability or anything like that for now as I just got one p/t job. This old disabled guy finally asked me to come over to his place on Friday. He’s harmless & he can barely walk. I’ll be helping him type letters, and I’ll do vacuuming & I’ll teach him how to use email & text His wife is disabled too. The other job is for a delivery position to where U’ll be using my own car. I did the background check today & I sent them my insurance info too. They wouldn’t ask that of every applicant, so that means that after things clear, that I’ll be officially hired & be asked to come into orientation? The hours are set & the pay includes tips & gas reimbursement. Maybe I have a chance of keeping these two jobs as my interaction with people will be very minimal. No more dealing with coworkers who may or may not be nice & micro managing supervisors! Thank god as my controlling husband cut my messly allowance again by $100 since we supposedly don’t have money in the account now. I didn’t check yet bit will soon. He told me that everything is going yo the IRS & that he got everything down to less than half of what things used to be. He gave me his credit card last week & this week as he has barely any money to give me he said. Wish me luck! Now I won’t have to beg him for money now! I’ll be making enough each momth to pay for my basic expenses plus have a few hundred left over to finally start rebuilding my credit thst he messed up intentionally! Wish me luck! |
