I know how it feels to be the disabled one in a family of achievers. Everyone in my extended family is either in college or has a job that they love. And then there's me----living on SSDI and alimony. It's very discouraging to feel like you're not as accomplished as your family members, or that you're not contributing anything.
I've come to realize, though, that my family needs me and that they don't look down on me for being on SSDI.
In fact they are nervous about my even thinking about going to work at the present time.
Your b/f loves and needs you for qualities in yourself that you may be overlooking. Please don't feel like you have nothing to offer, because you obviously do have a lot to offer to your b/f, your family, and to people here.
