I've realized I have nothing to offer anybody. I'm a nobody and have nothing to give. Andy, my bf, wants to marry me, but I have nothing to offer him that's worthy.
You see my sister's a model, my brother's a janitor and a father, my step-sister's a mother and is going to college, and my step-brother's a father and has a great job. I, on the other hand, am disabled, get SSI, and have no great qualities. I guess I really should just disappear...not die, just go away for awhile...

I know how it feels to be the disabled one in a family of achievers. Everyone in my extended family is either in college or has a job that they love. And then there's me----living on SSDI and alimony. It's very discouraging to feel like you're not as accomplished as your family members, or that you're not contributing anything.
I've come to realize, though, that my family needs me and that they don't look down on me for being on SSDI. In fact they are nervous about my even thinking about going to work at the present time. Your b/f loves and needs you for qualities in yourself that you may be overlooking. Please don't feel like you have nothing to offer, because you obviously do have a lot to offer to your b/f, your family, and to people here. ((((((((((Lexicon 78)))))))))) |

Lex, don't say that! You have a lot to offer. You're not worthless. Please, don't think that about yourself. You're not being fair and are being really mean to yourself. Why do you want to do that? It's not right. You're kicking yourself around and beating yourself up and you gotta stop doing that. Give yourself a great big FAT hug.
Know what? You need to go out and rent yourself out a comedy movie. Something silly and fun. Get away from your own funk for awhile. Or do some random act of kindness for a stranger. Do anything besides beating yourself into an oblivion. Okay? ![]() |

Lex,
I totally agree with jmo, when she says 'that is the depression talking'. We've all been there, and we often find it happening again, but I can say to you without fear of contradiction that you are an OK person. It takes a big heart to come onto PC and share with us and a lot of people couldn't do it - you could. Good thoughts, Lex, you deserve it. M. |

Today I feel a lot better. What a difference sleep makes! I hope everybody else is having a good day and night.

Lex,
Sleep is very important. I find that if I dont get adequate sleep it makes things so much worse for me. Try to be disiplined with yourself and get on a regular sleep pattern. A few months back I went through an extremely rough period of time where I was up all night and slept all day. It was awful and really made my depression and anxiety so much worse. So, please make sure that your getting proper rest. Hugs, Jen |
